Final magazine advert

It has a similar look and design to the digipak cover with the faded black and white and bold title. We also added the "available on iTunes" tag to the bottom of the advert which is usually at the bottom of an album advert.
Our magazine advert picture was originally taken from the our music video so it was easier to get hold of and develop To keep with the theme of the digipak somewhat, we kept the background black, which looks less 'tacky' compared to a brighter background plus it is easier to work with.

Question 2 - Evaluation

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts (DVD Digipak, Magazine Advert)?

The combination between the magazine advert and the digipak is very effective due to the fact we kept both very simply and clear for the audience.

This is our digipak, the digipak very good and effective because it is very colourful and simple it will attract people to the digipak, also the colours also to do with fire and the song name its fire+bone.

We decided to change the idea of the digipak to go with a more Minimalist approach than before. by doing so we appear to have a more professional looking product then before so it look much more simpler and original

An example of a minimalist album cover is 'Suck it and see' by the Arctic Monkeys. Where they took this idea to an extreme by just having text on a blank background, as you can see

Another inspiration for our Digipak front cover gradient design is from looking at the poster for the Movie 'Moon'

As you can see from the poster, the gradient circle in the middle draws you to look at the character in the Astronaut suit. We took this idea to mind and created a circle the gradients from Red to Yellow (To represent the colours of a fire). And then added black text going around in a circle so that it stands out more the further you go down the circle.

This is our magazine advert it is very effective because we actually originally got the picture for the magazine-ad from the music video so when the public see this they can straight away relate the the music video straight away. Also this is a picture of the lead singer so people who like him or hi music they will pick up the magazine.

0%                              From the result we got from our view it that there need to be an improvement. most people agreed that the digipak was ssuccesfull and really liked the design and the wa it worked with the magazing advert. We asked these specific question to tr and get the most out of the view and there real opinion on our music video. if we had more people who were willing to take part of our music video, our music video will look more as a band song then a solo song. If we had more time we would have gone to different locations for the music video to make it less boring. All this feed back form our viewers really helped us re evaluate what we produces and how to improve our video.

magazine advert

Helpful advice that we should remember whilst creating the magazine advert:

- Make sure all the relevant information is included.
The customer needs to know the event, the date any any other bonus information such as reviews or a website so this needs to be clearly advertised on our magazine advert.

- Find a software or technique to create the advertisment.
How we create the advert will depend on which medium we are using to advertise. Here are some basic ideas

  • If we are making a small scale print ad, such as a flyer or magazine advert, a good programme to use would be Adobe InDesign or Photoshop.
  • If we are making a video ad, try working with iMovie, Picasa or Windows Media Player.
  • For an audio ad, good programmes to use are Audacity or iTunes.
  • For a large scale advertisment, you would probably have to contact a print shop to get the work done.

magazine advertisement

We could take notice of the different text used in these magazine adverts. There so many different kind of texts and fonts to choose from.

Photoshop development

these pictures demonstrate how the original screen grab got developed into the magazine advert. We had  to download different text to get the right one for our magazine advert. When the magazine advert is done we will post it on our blog.
